THE GOOD READERS CLUB IS BACK!

…and this time, it’s fictional!

I’m delighted to say that The Good Readers Club will return in February 2024 with a new block of four sessions. This time, we’ll be delving into an array of fictional delights from authors such as Barbara Kingsolver, Zadie Smith, Sally Rooney and R. F. Kuang.

Keep reading to find out more about The Good Readers Club 2, as well as all the other workshops I’m running over the next few months.

“Hannah’s non-fiction meet-ups are an essential date in my writing month. They’ve given me the confidence to call myself a writer. Hannah’s knowledge of the publishing industry is vast and she is generous in sharing it. Every meet-up has a theme and Hannah spends time researching it, bringing the fruits of her research for us to discuss. Hannah has created a valuable community where we feel truly supported wherever we are in our writing journey.”

They say that to be a good writer, you must read widely. In this monthly discussion group, we’ll be deep-diving into pieces by a variety of writers across different genres, analysing both the writers’ craft and our response to it as readers.

  • Session 1 (Saturday 10th February, 1.303.00): Plot

Extracts: Rebecca, Daphne Du Maurier & Yellowface, R. F. Kuang

  • Session 2 (Saturday, 9th March, 1.303.00): Character

Extracts: Demon Copperhead, Barbara Kingsolver & Pachinko, Min Jin Lee

Short extracts will be circulated to attendees before each event, so do be prepared to do a small amount of advance reading to get the most out of the session. Ticket sales will close one week before each session to allow all confirmed attendees time to read the material.

Next meet-up: Saturday 11th May, 11 am–12.30pm

If you've got a non-fiction project (of any genre) in mind or on the go, come along to the Workshop in Orchard Square, Sheffield, and join this informal monthly meetup where we’ll talk everything fact-not-fiction.

This is an opportunity to get to know other local writers working on non-fiction projects, share your progress (or lack thereof), discuss ideas and challenges, and support each other on your non-fiction journeys.

  • Saturday 11th May, 11 am–12.30pm: TICKETS

Non-fiction Meet-ups will be held at The Writers Workshop, 14 Orchard Square, Sheffield.

“Hannah’s non-fiction meet-ups have created a fantastic community. She is generous in sharing industry insights and her own keen sense of what makes good writing good, whatever the genre and style. The conversations she creates are supportive and challenging, and my writing has benefited from them immensely.”
